Naperville doctor recognized for kidney disease work
Dr. Holly Kramer, a Naperville resident and nephrologist at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital, has been awarded the Harold and Molly Schwartz Founders’ Award for her commitment to and achievement in the field of kidney disease.
Kramer is a board member of the National Kidney Foundation and National Kidney Foundation of Illinois.
She also has volunteered to conduct kidney disease health screenings, coordinate awareness walks and has traveled across Illinois to inform families, caregivers and patients about kidney disease, a news release from the Hines hospital said.
Kramer is being recognized for all the roles she plays bringing kidney health to the forefront as a clinician, educator and advocate. Her passion began at a young age when she helped her mother, a dialysis nurse, care for patients in their homes, the release said.
“I’m sure my mother would be proud of this recognition, but awards come and go,” Kramer said in a statement. “What’s really important is the impact you have on people.”
The family of Harold and Molly Schwartz established the Founders Award following Harold’s death in 2005, according to the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois. Harold was a founding member of the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois.
The award is not presented annually and is only given based on merit, the foundation’s website said.
