Camp programs at Naper Settlement open for registration

Registration has opened for summer camps at Naper Settlement.

Camps run from June until August and are primarily geared for children in first through sixth grades.

Camp hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with early drop off available at 8 a.m. for no additional fee. Options include programs geared towards sports, history, coding, animals, forensics, geology, architecture and more.

Children also can learn a little bit about everything and participate in crafts and games while exploring the settlement’s historic houses and exhibits.

A special sewing camp for crafting and design will be offered for students in middle school and high school.

Most camps range from $200 to $250, with the sewing camp costing $450. Discounts are available for settlement members.

The settlement also is seeking summer camp counselors 18 and older to implement the curriculum, conduct educational programs and interact with campers. Interested counselors may apply at www.napersettlement.org.

College of DuPage to offer free dental exams March 1

The College of DuPage’s Dental Hygiene Clinic is offering free cleanings, school form exams, dental exams and X-rays for school-aged children from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 4 p.m. Friday, March 1, in Room 1122 of the Health and Science Center on the school’s Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Limited appointments are available, and children must be accompanied by an adult, college officials said in a news release.

The services are offered in conjunction with the American Dental Association’s Give Kids a Smile Day. More than 5.5 million underserved children have received free oral healthcare since the day was designated in 2013.

To make an appointment, call 630-942-3250.
