Junior Golfapalooza to be held April 20 at Naperbrook Golf Course

Registration opens April 1 for Junior Golfapalooza, which offers a chance for young golfers to improve their skills through games and events.

The program has various sessions that will be held between 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Naperbrook Golf Course, 22204 Hassert Blvd.

Naperville Park District residents can sign up for one of the three sessions starting April 1 and nonresidents can register April 3 at www.golfnaperville.org.

The educational event is for new or returning golfers between the ages of 5 and 17. Participants will receive help from PGA golf professionals on swinging, chipping and putting. They can play games and win prizes and complimentary hot dogs and drinks will be served.

Participants are asked to bring their own clubs, if possible. A limited number of clubs will be available at the event.

Park district hosting hiring event for students, adults seeking jobs

The Naperville Park District is hosting an event for high school and college students or others seeking a summer job and full- or part-time work.

It will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at the Fort Hill Activity Center, 20 Fort Hill Drive.

Job-seekers can talk directly with the district hiring managers about open positions.

Seasonal work is available at Centennial Beach and the Paddleboat Quarry as well as for summer camps, park maintenance, recreation, golf, custodial work and customer service.

College of DuPage offering continuing education expo for seniors

The College of DuPage’s Continuing Education department will host the Wisdom, Wonder and Wellness Senior Expo from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at its Robert J. Miller Homeland Security Center, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn.

The free community event features seminars on financial literacy, health and wellness, travel, and volunteerism, a college news release said.

S. Jay Olshansky, a faculty member with the School of Public Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago, will be the keynote speaker. His presentation on “Aging, Health and Longevity in the 21st Century” will discuss why humans live as long they do and how the new effort to slow aging represents a change in public health that benefits coming generations, the release said.

Pre-registration is recommended. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and light refreshments will be served.
