Trash and trout events being held in April at Hidden Oaks

In honor of Earth Month, residents can help beautify Hidden Lakes Trout Farm at Hidden Oaks Preserve in Bolingbrook by picking up trash.

The “Fishing for Trash” event will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends from April 6 to April 28 at the preserve, 419 Trout Farm Road. Community members can visit the Tackle Box bait shop during those hours to get a bucket and a picker and then pick up litter in the area and earn a gift.

The preserve also will celebrate the opening of trout season at 6 a.m. Saturday, April 6.

A fire to help warm up anglers will be provided on the first day, and free commemorative mugs handed out while supplies last. The event also includes a complimentary mug of hot chocolate, tea or coffee and doughnuts.

Fishing licenses and trout stamps can be bought at the bait shop.
