Park district to show five outdoor movies through rest of summer
The Naperville Park District will show five free, family-friendly outdoor movies in coming weeks as part of its “A Night at the Movies” series.
Movies will be shown Friday nights at various times and locations. Attendees should bring their own chairs, blankets and snacks, a district news release said.
The lineup is:
- “Minions: The Rise of Gru” at 8:30 p.m. July 26 at Rotary Hill, 443 Aurora Ave.;
- “Spy Kids” at 8:15 p.m. Aug. 9 at the 95th Street Community Plaza, 3109 Cedar Glade Drive;
- “Elemental” at 8 p.m. Aug. 23 at the 95th Street Community Plaza;
- “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at Rotary Hill;
- “Monsters Inc.” at at 7 p.m. Sept. 20 at the 95th Street Community Plaza.
Anderson named strategic partnership director for DuPage Foundation
Naperville resident Nicki Anderson, former president and CEO of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce, has been named new director of strategic partnerships for the DuPage Foundation.
Anderson will be charged with engaging business, government, community and private foundation leaders for the foundation, a philanthropic organization that has awarded more than $90 million in grants since being founded in 1986.
She will focus on education, outreach and the launch of a countywide giving circle to broaden support for the foundation’s Community Impact grant program, a foundation news release said. The grant program is designed to improve and enrich the community and residents by bestowing grants to local nonprofit groups.
Anderson most recently served as the creator and director of Benedictine University’s L.E.A.D.S. Women’s Undergraduate Leadership Program, the release said. She’s the former owner and CEO of Reality Fitness and was an appointed member of the Naperville City Council.
DuPage County educational series to be held this fall in Naperville
A series of public educational seminars will be presented in Naperville from Sept. 9 through Oct. 24 by DuPage County Board member Patty Gustin, D-Naperville.
In the series, county officials will discuss topics designed to enhance residents’ knowledge about what services and resources offered by the county. Each will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on select Thursdays.

The series kicks off Sept. 5 at the Naperville Women’s Club, 14 S. Washington St., featuring Judge Ann Celine Walsh, who will talk about ways to combat domestic violence.
Judge Kenton Skarin will discuss the judicial system on Sept. 12 at the Naperville Muncipal Building, 400 S. Eagle St. The presentation will include topics such as no cash bond and current case trends.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin will continue the conversation Sept. 26 at the Naperville Muncipal Building, featuring a discussion on his office’s roles and operations, the SAFE-T Act, no cash bond and current trends.
On Oct. 10, county Coroner Richard Jorgensen will talk about his office as well as statistics on heroin and fentanyl overdoses and substance abuse prevention. The discussion will be at the Naperville Muncipal Building.
The final discussion will occur Oct. 24 at the Naperville Muncipal Building and feature county Sheriff James Mendrick speaking about prison rehabilitation programs, county crime trends and concerns.
