Wartburg’s Castle Singers, Kammerstreicher to perform

Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Naperville will host Wartburg College’s Castle Singers and Kammerstreicher on their regional concert tour for an Ash Wednesday performance.

The service and concert will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at the church, 815 S. Washington St.

Castle Singers are vocalists who perform a variety of chamber repertoire, varying from Renaissance madrigals and motets to contemporary pop and vocal jazz. The group has been in existence for 75 years and has performed throughout the United States and overseas.

Kammerstreicher is an auditioned chamber string ensemble that has toured nationally and internationally and worked with renowned artists.

A free-will offering will be accepted to support future tours, a news release from the church said.

Wartburg College is a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America located in Waverly, Iowa.

Naperville Park District hosting hiring events at Fort Hill

Job-seekers can talk directly with hiring managers from the Naperville Park District at two upcoming events ahead of the summer season.

Both will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Fort Hill Activity Center, 20 Fort Hill Drive. The first is on Monday, March 10, and the second on Thursday, April 3.

Park district officials encourage high school and college students to check out summer employment or internships at the events. Adults looking for part-time work or a flexible schedule also are good candidates for the district’s various opportunities, a park district news release said.

Summer positions are available throughout the district, including at Centennial Beach, Paddleboat Quarry and summer camps. Job openings include seasonal and year-round work in park maintenance, recreation, golf, custodial and customer service, the release said.

Walmart and Sam’s Club launch Fight Hunger campaign

Walmart and Sam’s Club locations are holding their 12th annual “Fight Hunger. Spark Change” campaign through March 31.

Customers who buy in the stores and online can donate at the check-out or round up their bills at walmart.com or in the Walmart app. The Naperville Walmart store is located at 2552 W. 75th St.

If customers buy certain products, one of 22 participating suppliers will donate 10 cents, the the monetary equivalent of one meal, on behalf of a Feeding America partner food bank at Walmart and 50 cents or five meals at Sam’s Club.

Donations are also accepted at www.feedingamerica.org/walmart or www.feedingamerica.org/samsclub, the release said.
