Naperville woman killed after her SUV strikes two poles, catches fire

A Naperville woman was killed Monday night after her SUV struck two poles and caught fire in a residential area off Wehrli Road, Naperville police said,

Amanda Baratka, 38, was driving southbound on Wehrli shortly before 9 p.m. when her 2018 Toyota Rav 4 went off the road, struck two light poles and ended up in a private residential driveway where it became engulfed in flames, the police report said.

A young family member was able to get out of the vehicle without injury, officials said.

After the fire was extinguished, Barathka was pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy is to be conducted by the DuPage County Coroner’s Office, the report said.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit at 630-420-8833.
