With the upcoming presidential election now days away, early voting has expanded and as of Monday the Niles Village Hall is open as a site for voters to cast their ballots ahead of the Nov. 5 General Election.
“Any suburban Cook County voter may vote at any suburban Cook County Early Voting Site. Government-issued photo ID is not required but is helpful and speeds up the process to verify the voter’s registration address or signature,” reads a message about early voting in the village’s electronic newsletter.
Election 2024: How to vote early, get a mail-in ballot or find a polling place in Illinois
Early voting takes place in the Council Chambers on the first floor of Village Hall, according to the newsletter.
Voters may access the site to cast ballots early until Nov. 4 – the Monday before election day. Village Hall will not be a polling place for the General Election on Nov. 5.
Due to construction currently taking place at Village Hall, officials explain in the newsletter that voters will be able to enter the location from Oakton Street and go directly into the parking garage.
Additionally, for those who want to drop off their vote by mail ballot, secure drop boxes will be available at Village Hall. Voters may place their completed ballots in the drop box – as an alternative to mailing the ballot via the U.S. postal service.
“Mail ballots will be collected daily and will be time-stamped,” the newsletter explains about ballots dropped into the secure boxes.
