Northbrook honors memory of 9/11 tragedy

The Village of Northbrook honored the memory of 9/11 with an honor guard and bell ceremony on Sept. 11, 2024 at its tribute.

According to the 911 Memorial’s website, 2,977 people died on the day that airplanes struck the World Trade Center Towers, as well as sites at the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania. The victims included many fire and police first responders who rushed into the buildings to help others before the towers collapsed.

In the years since, many other rescuers have become sick or died from the toxins they were exposed to in the aftermath of the tragedy.
