Northbrook Park District is holding a public skate and puppy adoption event Saturday

The Northbrook Park District is partnering with the nonprofit Wright-Way-Rescue to host “Pup-Lick Skate,” a special public skate and puppy adoption event on Saturday.

Representatives of Wright-Way Rescue will be on site with puppies available for adoption from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside the pool entrance at Northbrook Sports Center, according to a news release.

People can stop by to learn more about adoption opportunities on their way to and from the Sports Center’s public skate hours, which run from 10:40 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.

This is the first such event at the Sports Center, Recreation Supervisor Bridgette Sterba said in the release.

“It will be a great way to incorporate awareness about the need for pet adoption in a friendly and fun environment,” she said. “We are also collecting donations for Wright-Way-Rescue because they need supplies to continue their good work.”

The release said Rescuing cats and dogs, Wright-Way-Rescue is based in Morton Grove. The nonprofit is very excited to be partnering with Northbrook Park District for Saturday’s adoption event, said its representative Rochelle Michalek.

“Summer is a wonderful time to add a new furry friend to your family! With the beautiful weather and your children home from school, it is a great time to adopt a homeless animal,” she said in the release. Wright-Way Rescue will be bringing a wide variety of puppies that are looking for families to call their own!”

Additionally, children and adults can earn a free public skate pass on Saturday if they bring one of the following donation items:

Fleece throws
Bath towels
Bleach
Detergent
Dog toys
Cat toys
Cat litter
Paper towels
Latex gloves
Office supplies
Copy paper
Highlighters
Pens
Daily admission fees for public skate are $6 for ages 3 to 17 and $7 for ages 18 and up. Skate rental is $4.

A 10-admission swipe car is $50 for ages 3 to 17 and $60 for ages 18 and up. Skate rental with an admission card is $35.
