NEW YORK — There will be no Final Four run for Florida Atlantic this year.
No. 9 seed Northwestern got a late layup from Brooks Barnhizer to force the extra session, then dominated overtime to beat eighth-seeded FAU 77-65 on Friday at the Barclays Center.
The Wildcats outscored the Owls 19-7 in OT with Ryan Langborg scoring 12 of his game-high 27 points in the extra session.
Boo Buie added 22 points and Barnhizer had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Northwestern (22-11), which will face either top seed and defending national champion Connecticut or 16th-seeded Stetson on Sunday.
