Northwestern issues all clear after report of shots fired on campus

Northwestern University issued an all-clear alert Sunday night following a report of shots fired on campus.

The university’s emergency alert system first warned students of the “active threat” near 70 Arts Circle Drive at 10:53 p.m. The all-clear was later issued at 11:42 p.m.

“Run, hide, fight,” the initial alert said. “Take proper shelter. Lock and/or barricade doors. Await further information.”

People were advised to avoid the area while police remained at the scene.

Officials said that police were investigating the report of shots fired. No injured people were located.
