Oak Forest police are investigating a traffic accident that resulted in a death early Thursday.
Police said at 1:46 a.m. Thursday they responded to a report of a traffic crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian near the 15000 block of southbound Cicero Avenue.
Police said in a news release that officers and firefighters provided medical assistance to the pedestrian, who was later taken to South Suburban Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Oak Forest police Chief Scott Durano said the death was not the result of a hit-and-run accident, and said Oak Forest police and investigators with the South Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team are looking into it.
Police said the identity of the victim was being withheld pending notification of the family.
