A man was killed and a woman was critically injured in a crash in West Lawn Sunday night, according to Chicago Police.
The collision took place in the 7100 block of South Pulaski Road around 8:35 p.m.
Police said that a black sedan and a silver sedan were traveling northbound when the silver sedan was attempting to merge from the outer lane to the inner lane. The black sedan, which was traveling in the same direction, made contact with the rear driver side of the silver sedan.
The black sedan lost control and struck a light post located in the median, authorities said.
The driver, a 22-year-old man, and a female passenger were both ejected from the vehicle. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was transported to an area hospital with an injury to the leg. She is listed in critical condition, authorities said.
The man driving the silver sedan and the female passenger were not injured and refused emergency medical services. Police are continuing to investigate.
