One dead, two injured in shooting near Howard Red Line station, police say

One man is dead and two others injured following a Wednesday afternoon shooting near the Howard CTA Red Line station in the Rogers Park neighborhood, according to Chicago police. 

An occupant in an unknown vehicle fired shots at the three men who were standing near the sidewalk just after 2:50 p.m. in the 1600 block of West Howard Street, police said.  

A 29-year-old man was shot in the neck, back and abdomen. He was taken to Ascension Saint Francis in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead. 

An 18-year-old man, who was shot in the chest, was also transported to St. Francis in critical condition. A 20-year-old man, shot in the shoulder, was reported in good condition at St. Francis, police said. 

Police said no suspects were in custody, and detectives were actively investigating the shooting.
