Pair charged in attack on woman after making ‘derogatory’ comments about her sex orientation at Carpentersville McDonald’s

A woman was severely beaten at a Carpentersville McDonald’s by a man and a juvenile who allegedly made “derogatory remarks” about the victim’s sexual orientation, officials said.

The incident happened May 13 at the McDonald’s at 1660 S. Kennedy Drive, a Carpentersville Police Department news release said.

The situation escalated from a verbal confrontation between the three people into physical fight, resulting in the victim needing to be treated for her injuries at a local hospital, the release said.

Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office prosecutors have filed “multiple” felony charges against the two suspects, one of whom is a juvenile who turned himself in May 16 and the other an adult man arrested May 17, the release said.

Police did not disclose the man’s name, address or age nor did they cite all of the charges filed against him and the juvenile other than aggravated battery causing bodily harm, a class 3 felony.
