Entry forms are now available for those who want to participate in the Electric Christmas Parade set for Saturday, Nov. 30, in downtown St. Charles.
The St. Charles Business Alliance is now accepting entry forms from local businesses, community groups and non-profits to be part of the parade to be held on Main Street between Sixth Street and Fourth Avenue.

Free concert planned in Montgomery
The village of Montgomery will present a free concert by Beatles tribute band American English from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, in Montgomery Park, 301 N. River St. in Montgomery.
Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to sit on during the show.
Two food trucks will be onsite during the concert – Grumpy Gaucho, known for its Argentine-inspired fare, and Toasty Cheese, with gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches.

Autumn hike set at forest preserve
From 11 a.m. to noon on Friday, Oct. 11, a Kane County Forest Preserve District naturalist will lead a guided hike through Tekakwitha Woods Forest Preserve in St. Charles.
During the hike, participants will learn about the science behind the vibrant transformations of leaves during the fall, district officials said.
Tekakwitha Woods Forest Preserve is at 35W076 Villa Maria Road in St. Charles.

Artists sought for Oswego Village Hall displays
The Oswego Cultural Arts Commission invites local artists and artist collectives to submit proposals for artwork to be displayed at Oswego Village Hall in 2025.
The exhibition space at Village Hall, 100 Parkers Mill in Oswego, offers a unique opportunity for artists to showcase their work in a highly visible public space with the goal of bringing a diverse range of artistic expression to the Oswego community, officials said.
Up to four exhibits will be selected, with each show displayed for an agreed-upon period. The available space at Village Hall includes two sections of the lobby, as well as an additional display case for both two-dimensional and three-dimensional works of art, according to officials.
The Oswego Cultural Arts Commission is seeking work that reflects the rich diversity of artistic styles and mediums, commission officials said.
Selected pieces will be chosen with consideration to the public setting, and artists are welcome to display works for sale, with contact and pricing details provided as part of the exhibit, according to commission officials.
Artists interested in participating must submit a completed Art at Village Hall application, which includes the ability to upload proposals and images of the artwork to be considered. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 1.

Nominees sought for Batavia Citizen of Year
The Batavia Chamber of Commerce is taking nominations for the annual Batavia Citizen of the Year Award.
The award honors extraordinary contributions to the community over the course of the recipient’s lifetime, according to a press release from the Batavia Chamber of Commerce.
The person selected will be the guest of honor at the Batavia Chamber of Commerce’s recognition event – The Inspire 2025 awards celebration – set for Thursday, April 24.
Criteria for the award are that the nominee must live, or have their business, in Batavia or Batavia Township; must.
have assisted in an improvement or program of significant value to the Batavia community; and the improvement must be made as a result of a personal commitment and not substantially as a result of their primary employment or public responsibilities, officials said.
The nominee may not currently be on the Board of Directors of the Batavia Chamber of Commerce and does not need to be a member of the Chamber.
To nominate someone, submit a letter of recommendation to the Batavia Chamber of Commerce, 106 W. Wilson St., Batavia, no later than Friday, Nov. 8. The letter should state the reasons why the nominee is worthy of this honor. It can be dropped off, mailed or emailed to Margaret@bataviachamber.org.
A committee of previous recipients of the award selects the Batavia Citizen of the Year based upon the letters of recommendation received.

Waubonsee to host College Night
Waubonsee Community College will host College Night from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, in the Academic and Professional Center at its Sugar Grove campus at Route 47 and Waubonsee Drive.
The event is open to the public.
Waubonsee’s annual College Night is a free event designed for students, parents and community residents who are navigating the college selection process, college officials said.
The evening will feature representatives from over 125 U.S. public and private colleges and universities, according to Waubonsee officials.
This year, participants can also register for free pre-event bonus sessions including “Design the Future: CAD/Engineering Demos and Info” from 5 to 6 p.m. and “Associate Degree in Nursing vs. Bachelor of Science in Nursing” from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
There will also be free workshops on topics such as choosing a major, financial aid and advice for choosing a college.
