Passenger killed, employee injured in CTA bus shooting, police say

A  CTA employee and passenger were shot on a CTA bus in the Douglas neighborhood overnight on Sunday, according to Chicago police.

Two men got into an altercation toward the back of the bus around 12:14 a.m. near the 3400 block of South State Street, which a CTA employee reported to police, police say. A CTA employee reported the shooting.

One of the men shot the other — a man in his late 20s — in the chest and shot the CTA employee in the right shoulder, police say. According to police, the employee stopped the bus, and the offender fled.

The victim was taken to U. of C. Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead soon after, police say. The CTA employee was taken to U. of C. hospital in good condition.

No suspects are in custody, and detectives are investigating.
