Pedestrian dead in overnight 3-vehicle accident overnight in Clearing neighborhood

A 38-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead Monday night after being struck during a three-car collision in the Clearing neighborhood on the Southwest Side, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 11:15 p.m., officers responded to an auto accident in the 5200 block of West 63rd Street where three vehicles were involved in a collision, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a white Infiniti sedan was westbound on 63rd Street when it sideswiped a black Infiniti sedan traveling in the same direction. A vehicle then struck a white Nissan sedan causing the white Infiniti to jump the curb striking a pedestrian before hitting a building and coming to rest, police said.

The 38-year-old pedestrian was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the white Infiniti sedan also went to the same hospital where he was listed in fair condition.  A woman passenger of the white Infiniti also was taken to Christ Medical Center. The driver of the Nissan was not injured and refused medical help at the scene, police said.

The driver of the black Infiniti sedan was taken to Holy Cross Hospital as a precaution, and a female passenger refused medical help at the scene.

No citations are pending, and detectives are investigating.
