An Aurora man was pronounced dead after being hit by a vehicle while walking in Aurora Township in the early hours of Monday morning, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.
At around 4:20 a.m. Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian near Farnsworth Avenue and Summit Avenue in Aurora Township, the news release said.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a white 2017 GMC work van was traveling south on Farnsworth and struck a pedestrian who was walking south in the roadway along the fog line, according to the release.
The pedestrian — identified by the Sheriff’s Office as Samson Isom, 42, of Aurora — was taken to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced dead, the release said.
The driver of the van, a 36-year-old man from Aurora, was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Aurora with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Aurora Police Department, Aurora Township Fire Department and Kane County Drone Team assisted the Kane County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the incident, per the release.
No citations have been issued yet, the release said. The crash is currently being investigated.
