Pedestrian fatally struck overnight in North Lawndale

A 25-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck overnight on the West Side in the North Lawndale neighborhood, Chicago police said.

About 4:15 a.m., an Acura MDX was headed north through an alley in the 1300 block of South Lawndale Avenue when the driver made a left turn to head west on 13th Street and struck a curb and went onto the sidewalk striking a 25-year-old woman, police said.

The woman suffered multiple injuries to the body, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Mazda suffered an injury to the leg, and also was taken to Mount Sinai and listed in fair condition, police said. The driver was placed into custody and charges were pending.
