Pedestrian killed after being struck by multiple vehicles in Dundee Township

A pedestrian was killed Monday morning after being struck by multiple cars at Route 31 and Miller Road in Dundee Township, officials said.

The male victim, whose identity was not released, was prounounced dead at the scene shortly after the 7 a.m. incident, according to a news release from the Carpentersville Fire Department, which was joined at the scene by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, West Dundee Fire Department and Carpentersville Police Department.

Kane County is handling the investigation, according to Undersheriff Amy Johnson. A drone was used to help reconstruction the scene, and detectives were talking to several witnesses, she said.

This is the second fatal traffic accident in the same general area in the last six months, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The first occurred about 7:40 a.m. Oct. 29 when the driver of a semi truck eastbound on Miller Road went through a stop sign at Route 31 and struck another semi that was southbound on Route 31, the release said.

Clifford Brown, 32, of Chicago, who was driving the truck that didn’t stop, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, the report said.
