A person was shot and critically wounded by a Chicago police officer in the city’s East Side neighborhood Friday afternoon, officials and police sources said.
The shooting occurred in the 3800 block of East 112th Street, according to a notification from the Civilian Office of Police Accountability posted shortly after 2 p.m. A police source not authorized to speak publicly said the person shot was a male who was taken to UChicago Medicine in critical condition.
The male’s age and the circumstances of the shooting were not immediately known, and the Chicago Police Department had not provided an update as of Friday afternoon.
