Phillip Hanks, a Joliet father of six, received a multivisceral transplant — a simultaneous transplant of multiple organs — at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis in late April 2021. He received a new liver, small and large intestine, stomach, pancreas and kidney. Since then, he’s doing well and has become a spokesperson for Jesse White’s organ donor campaign, during his last year in office.
