In honor of Veterans Day, 1st Michigan Engineers Company E, Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War and the Chicago Light Artillery sponsored a ceremony on Nov. 9th, 2024 at Rosehill Cemetery on the North Side of Chicago. The historic cemetery was founded in 1859 and at least one veteran from every war in U.S. history is laid to rest there, including one soldier from the Revolutionary War, 20 Civil War generals and more than 350 Union soldiers.The Rev. Jerry Kowalski, past national chaplain for the Son of Union Veterans of the Civil War, spoke during the remembrance. Chicago Light Artillery and Cannon Salute to be present.
