A worker who was trapped in the debris of a collapsed building in the 700 block of East Oakwood Boulevard has been taken to a hospital in ‘grave’ condition on Jan. 12, 2023, on the South Side of Chicago, officials said. Rescue squads took turns hauling rubble away to find the trapped man, and tried to minimize vibrations to the vacant building to prevent a “second collapse,” said Deputy District Chief Shun T. Haynes at the scene.
