A 15-year-old boy was killed by gunshots fired from a vehicle Friday afternoon in the city’s Little Village neighborhood, according to Chicago police.
The teen was standing on the sidewalk in the 2800 block of South Komensky Avenue around 5:10 p.m. when a vehicle pulled alongside him and a gunman inside the vehicle opened fire, police said in a preliminary statement. The boy was struck multiple times and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The boy’s identity wasn’t immediately released. Police didn’t say whether any words were exchanged before the shooting or give a description of the vehicle.
