Charges are pending against a man responsible for shooting another man who ended up driving himself to an immediate care clinic for help earlier this month.
All the parties involved knew each other and were from out-of-state, Highland Police Chief Ralph Potesta told the Highland Town Council at its Monday night meeting. Detectives are still investigating phone records before they formally press charges, he said.
Potesta added that the landlord of the apartment where the incident took place has evicted the people living there involved in the shooting.
Officers were called around 10:30 a.m. February 2 to an apartment unit in the 9600 block of Forrest Drive, where they discovered several bullet casings at the front door, then received a Lake County Dispatch call about a shooting victim while there, the Post-Tribune previously reported.
Dispatch told them that a man had arrived at an urgent care clinic on Cline Avenue with a gunshot wound.
