Chicago police helped round up a group of burglars after they attempted to elude railroad police by entering a nearby canal in the Brighton Park neighborhood to escape Thursday night.
Shortly after 10:45 p.m., police responded to a call to assist railroad police to apprehend four suspects burglars wanted for burglarizing a train car, Chicago police said.
The four male suspects had fled the scene in the 3700 block of South Pulaski Road with two of them jumping into a nearby canal in an attempt to elude officers, police said.
A search of the area was coordinated with the marine unit, K-9 unit and police helicopter which rounded up three burglars who were taken into custody.
Detectives are investigating and charges are pending.
