Detectives are investigating a fatal Monday night traffic crash in the Avalon Park neighborhood that killed a 31-year-old man.
Shortly before 10 p.m., a man was headed east in the 7900 block of South Avalon Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a light pole, Chicago police said.
The man suffered trauma to the body and was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A preliminary investigation revealed the victim may have been traveling at a high rate of speed.
As of Tuesday morning the victim had not yet been identified. Detectives were investigating.
