Detectives with the Porter County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a report of a subject who was found deceased by railroad tracks in Liberty Township on Friday, according to a release.
“We believe this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to public safety,” Sgt. Ben McFalls, the department’s public information officer, said in the release.
The identity of the subject is not being released pending identification and notification of family.
Deputies were called around 12:45 p.m. to the railroad tracks between County Road 150 West and County Road 200 West about a subject who was found deceased. Officers confirmed the subject had passed and detectives arrived to process the scene, McFalls said.
The Porter County Coroner was contacted and an autopsy will be conducted at a later
date.
Police did not have additional information to release late Friday afternoon.
