Police: Man fatally shot in Washington Park early Sunday

A man was killed in a fatal shooting in Washington Park early Sunday, police said.

Around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to the 6800 block of South Prairie Avenue after receiving a call about “a person down” in the area, according to the Chicago Police Department.

At the scene, officers found a man, who was approximately 40 years old. Police said the man was on the ground, unresponsive and had a gunshot wound in his head. He was declared dead at the scene.

No one was in custody as of around 4 a.m. Sunday, and Chicago police detectives were investigating.
