One person died in a two-car wreck Wednesday afternoon on U.S. 20 west of the Town of Pines, according to the Porter County Sheriff’s Department.
The name of the driver who died, who police said is male, is not being released pending notification of family, according to a release.
Around 2:58 p.m. on Oct. 9, police were dispatched to a report of a two-vehicle crash with injuries at the intersection of U.S. 20 and County Road 375 East.
Officers arriving at the scene found the male driver of a 2010 Buick passenger car had died as a result of the collision, according to the release. A female was driving the other vehicle involved, a 2019 Hyundai passenger car.
An initial investigation and a witness statement showed the Hyundai was westbound on U.S. 20 and on the inside lane when the driver of the Buick failed to yield and pulled off of southbound County Road 375 East and into the Hyundai’s lane of travel, police said.
The Hyundai struck the Buick on the driver’s side.
