A woman was shot Tuesday afternoon in the 600 block of Raymond Street in Elgin, police said.
The victim, whose name, age and hometown were not released, was taken to an area hospital for treatment, a post on the Elgin Police Department Facebook page.
The report said the incident, which occurred about 1:45 p.m., was “isolated” and there was no threat to the community but provided no information to explain what that means.
Police also did not say if the shooting was inside a residence or building or somewhere outside; what provoked the attack; if anyone is being held in custody; if the shooter and victim were known to each other; how badly injured the woman was; why she was in the area where the shooting occurred or if anyone else was involved.
The police department’s Investigations Division is handling the case.
