No suspicious activity is suspected in the death of a Waukegan man, 45, whose body was found frozen on Feb. 19 in Bevier Park in Waukegan after a suspected medical incident.
Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Scott Chastain said Thursday the department received a call from two men who were on their way to play on the frisbee golf course in the park when they discovered the body.
“They saw the body under a bush and called the police,” he said. “The body was pretty much frozen. We called the fire department. They arrived and pronounced him dead. The coroner came and got the body. There was nothing suspicious (found) on our end.”
Chastain said the man probably had a medical incident, most likely with his heart. The police received the call at 4:30 p.m. and responded quickly. They are uncertain how long the body had been there.
Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton said in an email Thursday his office identified the body as a 45-year-old Waukegan man. The autopsy is not finished and he did not give a name.
“There were no signs of injury or foul play,” Newton said in the email. “There were some medical conditions and evidence of cold exposure.”
