Police shoot suspect in armed confrontation after a chase from Plano to Aurora

Law enforcement officers shot an armed suspect on Friday night in Aurora after pursuing them from Plano, according to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.

Illinois State Police is currently investigating the use of force in this incident, a department spokesperson said Saturday.

Multiple agencies were involved in the pursuit of the suspect, police said. Deputies from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for assistance from the Plano Police Department at just before 6:45 p.m. after a report of shots fired in the 3800 block of Pratt Street in Plano.

After the responding law enforcement found a car that they believed to be associated with the gunfire, they began to pursue the suspect, with the chase ending in a confrontation near Route 34 and Eola Road in Aurora. There, “deputies and officers, facing a lethal threat, engaged the subject to protect the public and themselves,” wrote the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office in a news release.

No law enforcement officers were injured, police said.
