The Porter County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a 3-month-old Friday afternoon after deputies were called to a home in Portage Township.
Around 1:35 p.m. Feb. 27, officers were dispatched to a residence in unincorporated Portage Township for a medical emergency, a report that a child was not breathing, according to a release from Sgt. Ben McFalls, the department’s public information officer.
Emergency Medical Services transported the infant to a nearby hospital and the child later passed away, police said.
“The Detective Bureau is currently investigating this incident and we have no further information to release at this time,” McFalls said. “Please keep the family and friends of this child in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”
