Posen carnival shut down due to large fight, multiple arrests made

Police announced the early shutdown of a carnival in south suburban Posen Sunday night due to a large fight that broke out and led to multiple arrests.

“Posen police officers responded swiftly to the incident and are currently working diligently to disperse the crowd and restore order,” the department said in a statement at about 7 p.m. Sunday.

The Posen Park Festival opened Thursday evening was scheduled to run until 10 p.m Sunday.

Residents were instructed to avoid the area near the carnival grounds at Commissioners Park, 147th and Sacramento streets, to allow officers to manage the situation and ensure safety.
