Public invited to Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast in Aurora

The Fox Valley Christian Ministerial Alliance is inviting the public to its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast on Monday, Jan. 20, in Aurora.

The event will run from 9:30 to11:30 a.m. at Gayles Memorial Baptist Church, 730 Gillette Ave.

The morning event will feature dedicated prayer segments followed by a complimentary breakfast, organizers said.

Kane Forest District plans winter fest

Winter-themed games, crafts and activities are planned during the Forest Preserve District of Kane County’s inaugural Polar-Palooza, set for Saturday, Jan. 18, district officials said.

The free event is set for noon to 3 p.m. at Creek Bend Nature Center, 37W700 Dean St. in St. Charles.

A variety of activities are planned, district officials said, from interactive exhibits to nature-based arcade-style games. Those participating can complete challenges and earn tickets that can be redeemed for prizes, according to a press release about the event.

There will also be complimentary hot chocolate and cookies during the fest, organizers said.
