Pullman man charged in 2024 downtown killings of two high school students, police say

A 22-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the broad-daylight shooting deaths of two Innovations High School students in January 2024, according to Chicago police.

Tommie Coleman, 22, faces two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder and a litany of other charges in connection with the killings of Monterio Williams, 17, and Robert Boston, 16, in the Loop.

The shooting occurred about 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 26, 2024. The teens were in a group leaving the school’s Loop campus, on the first block of North Wabash Avenue, when two cars pulled up and their occupants began firing.

Cook County court records show authorities issued an arrest warrant for Coleman, a Pullman resident, on Dec. 9. The warrant listed that Coleman was wanted specifically in connection with Williams’ death. Police arrested him Wednesday in the Jefferson Park neighborhood.

Coleman is set to appear in court for a detention hearing on Saturday, police said.
