For five decades, celebrated author Judy Blume refused to sell the movie rights to her controversial novel “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.” Luckily for audiences, Blume let filmmaker Kelly Fremon Craig adapt her book into this appealing, gentle and well-acted movie starring Rachel McAdams in what clearly qualifies as the personal best of her career.
