The New York Rangers have yet to lose a game in these Stanley Cup Playoffs as they are one win away from the Eastern Conference Finals.
After sweeping the Washington Capitals in the first round, the Rangers have picked up three consecutive one-goal victories over the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round.
Each of the last two wins came in overtime, as Artemi Panarin scored the winner in Game 3 in a 3-2 triumph. New York won despite getting outshot, 47-25, as Carolina has posted 104 shots in the last two games.
The big question is if Carolina can rebound and still make this a series.
Last season, the Hurricanes were swept in the Eastern Conference Finals by the Florida Panthers — their fourth straight playoff series loss after dropping the opener.
New York has owned Carolina the last two seasons, capturing eight of the last 10 meetings, including each of the past four matchups in Raleigh.
Carolina’s power play has not seen much success in this series, going 0-for-15 in the first three losses, while New York has tallied four goals with the man advantage.
It’s easy to back the Hurricanes under the assumption they’ll avoid the sweep at home, but with the way the Rangers are playing and getting them as an underdog, let’s back New York here to pull off the Game 4 win and sweep.
