Ranking report: Naperville nursing homes among the top in the country

The Springs at Monarch Landing in Naperville is among the best nursing homes in the country, according to a recent report from Newsweek.

In September, Newsweek released its list for America’s Best Nursing Homes of 2025. The ranking recognizes 1,050 of the country’s top nursing homes. Honorees include The Springs at Monarch Landing, which came in as the No. 2 facility among nursing homes with 50-99 beds in Illinois.

The Springs at Monarch Landing placed second to its sister community, The Clare, in Chicago. Located off Route 59, The Springs offers not only nursing services, but also memory-supported assisted living, rehabilitation and respite care.

To compile its ranking, Newsweek explained that it partnered with Statista, a global data research firm. Only facilities located across the 25 states with the highest number of nursing homes were eligible for the study.

Facilities were assessed and ranked based on four criteria: performance data, recommendations of medical professionals, accreditations and resident satisfaction, according to Newsweek.

Data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services was used to determine nursing homes’ performance. For peer recommendations, thousands of medical experts — including registered nurses, nursing home managers and administrators, licensed practical nurses, therapists and physicians — were invited to take part in an online survey.

In all, 14,858 nursing homes were analyzed. The best 1,050 nursing homes were awarded with a rank in their own state. Apart from facilities with 50-99 beds, Newsweek’s list also includes ratings for nursing homes with 100-149 beds and for facilities with at least 150 beds.

In Illinois, Westminster Place in Evanston placed No. 1 among facilities with 100-149 beds and DuPage Care Center in Wheaton snagged the top spot for homes with at least 150 beds.

A second Naperville nursing home, St. Patrick’s Residence Nursing and Rehabilitation, also made Newsweek’s ranking among facilities with at least 150 beds, coming in behind the DuPage Care Center at No. 9.

Newsweek’s list aside, senior care in Naperville is also garnering accolades from US News and World Report.

The Springs has been designated one of digital media company’s Best Nursing Homes of 2025.

Since 2009, US News has released nursing home ratings annually to give individuals and families across the country a starting point in their search for a nursing home, the publication says on its website. Ratings take into account both short-term rehabilitation — evaluating the care that facilities deliver to patients after a hospitalization — and long-term care, which looks at care delivered to residents who are no longer able to live independently.

In US News’ most recent ratings, The Springs was overall deemed “high performing.” It was one of only 643 facilities — of nearly 15,000 nursing homes that US News evaluated for its 2025 ratings — that received a high performing rating for both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care.

“We are extremely proud of all of the recognition and honors earned over the past year,” Elizabeth Vanderwal, administrator at The Springs, said in a news release last week. “The key is that they’re reflections of our achievements, objectives that have been reached and even exceeded through hard work and dedication, done successfully by effort, courage and skill.

“The Springs boasts a team of compassionate, caring and talented professionals, The awards and honors are testaments of their excellence.”
