Religion roundup: Beer tasting, K of C pancake breakfast, Alpha series, blood drive slated

Flossmoor

Flossmoor Community Church Community House, 2218 Hutchison Road: Guided beer tasting at 7 p.m. Feb. 23. It’s sponsored by the church’s Board of Community & Connection. Adults 21 and older are invited to taste six brewed selections chosen by Andrew Van Til, a certified master cicerone with Duvel USA. Hard seltzer will be available for anyone who wants to attend but doesn’t like beer. Ubering and designated drivers are recommended.

In the 1600s, Bavarian monks were not allowed to have solid food during Lent and needed something besides water, so they turned to really strong beer to sustain them. Learn more about this craft. This series of videos and group conversations explores life, spirituality and faith through a Christian lens in an open and nonjudgmental environment.
