Religion roundup: Easter egg hunts, sandwich ministry, Holy Week services

Palos Heights

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7800 W. McCarthy Road: Easter Eggstravaganza from 10 to 11 a.m. March 30. The free event, open to the community, takes place rain or shine. Begin in the Family Life Center for an Easter message. Afterward, children will participate in the egg hunt, hopefully outside. Arrive a few minutes ahead to add children to the participants’ list at the welcome table.

Holy Week schedule is 7:30 p.m. Maundy Thursday, March 28, foot washing and communion; Good Friday service at 12:30 p.m. March 29; Good Friday Tenebrae service at 7:30 p.m. March 29, featuring the choir. Easter events March 31 are sunrise service at 6:30 a.m., continental Easter breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and festival services with special music and communion at 9 and 11 a.m. Online versions will be offered for the services at 7:30 p.m. March 28, 12:30 p.m. March 29 and 9 a.m. March 31. Oak Lawn

St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, 10621 S. Kedvale Ave.: Prayer, Bread, Song sandwich ministry, or PBS, needs volunteers and donations to make sandwiches at 7 p.m. March 25 in the Father Lion Center. Prayer and worship are included. The ministry seeks donations of brown lunch bags, chips and nonperishable items along with sandwich ingredients. They can be left in the church vestibule March 23 and 24. Pilgrim Faith United Church of Christ, 9411 S. 51st Ave.: Combined Good Friday service at 7:30 p.m. March 29 with Christ Memorial UCC in Blue Island, Immanuel UCC in Evergreen Park and Salem UCC in Oak Lawn. The service will reflect upon the passion of Jesus through the eyes, life and experiences of Peter. Easter Sunday worship service is at 10 a.m. at Pilgrim Faith. It will include a renewal of baptismal vows and communion. Information: 708-422-4200.

Orland Park

Presbyterian Church in Orland Park, 13401 Wolf Road: Easter egg hunt and breakfast March 31. Early service is at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast hosted by the Men’s Breakfast Group from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. The egg hunt and activities start at 9 a.m. Registration is required for the egg hunt with a suggested donation of $5 per person at pcorlandpark.org/easter-egg-hunt/. Worship service at 10 a.m. includes special music.

Holy week services include Palm Sunday service at 10 a.m. March 24, Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. March 28, Good Friday prayer and meditation available in the sanctuary from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 29. Information: 708-448-8142.
