Abundant Grace United Church of Christ, 18200 Dixie Highway: Northern Illinois Steelband performs 6:30 to 8 p.m. March 9. Formed in 1973, the band has performed concerts internationally and throughout the United States. It’s directed by music professor Liam Teague, head of steelpan studies. The steelpan is the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago. Alums of Northern Illinois University and the band are especially welcome. Tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for students. St. Terrence Parish, 4300 W. 119th Place: Easter basket outreach project through March 17. Donations also are being taken at Incarnation, 5757 W. 127th St. in Crestwood. The parish provides Easter baskets for local children’s charities and senior nursing homes. Baskets for children need donations of medium-sized Easter baskets, individually wrapped candy, chocolate bunnies, small toys, small stuffed animals, crayons and coloring books and bubbles. No Peeps.
Baskets for seniors need donations of small-sized baskets, small chocolate bunnies, individually wrapped candy, snacks, travel-size hand lotion, lip balm, toothbrushes, nail files, puzzle books, pens and pencils, playing cards and socks. Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7800 W. McCarthy Road: Lenten suppers at 6:15 p.m. Wednesdays through March 27. The meal includes an entree and side dishes, dessert, lemonade, water and decaf coffee. Freewill offerings are accepted to cover the meal. ASpecial Lenten services take place Wednesdays through March 27 at 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. The service is online as well.
