St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, 7399 W. 159th St.: Taste of St. Julie starts at 4 p.m. Aug. 17 in the St. Julie Devine Center. Participants can sample cuisine such as American BBQ, fried s’mores, bake shop and food from Vietnam, the Philippines, Poland, Italy and Mexico. Drinks include beer wine, lemon shakeups, soft drinks and a specialty drink for the church’s 50th anniversary. Activities include family bingo, DJ, live music from Sundance, kids’ games, face painting, dunk tank, fire truck visit and split the pot raffle. Everyone is welcome. The event begins at 8 a.m. Participants run through the neighborhood around the church starting at Lawn Manor Park, 108th Street and Kostner Avenue. Charger Kids race for children entering preK through third grade starts at 9:15 a.m. It’s a “color run.” Awards will be given about 9:30 a.m. Cost is $30 per person for the 5k, $20 for a registered student at St. Catherine and $10 for the kids’ race.
