The West Aurora School District 129 board recently approved salary increases for administrators for the coming school year.
The raises will cover approximately 108 administrators for the 2025-26 school year, officials said.
“The majority of increases were 4%,” West Aurora Associate Superintendent of Operations Angie Smith told The Beacon-News in response to questions via email.
A few administrators that are on the retirement track with up to four years will receive a higher benefit in line with the teachers’ contract, while some administrators will receive a lesser increase if they are reaching the end of their salary range, she said.
The outcome for administrator salary growth as a whole has not been set as yet, Smith said.
“We have not completed all administrative hirings so we do not have a final tally,” she said.
The board recently approved new promotions for principal positions and assistant principal new hires have to be figured in.
“We recently promoted some assistant principals to principal and now need to back-fill their roles. In addition, we have a few administrative retirements that will not be replaced. When all the dust settles, we anticipate that administrator salaries as a category will be up less than 1.2%,” Smith said.
The district’s administrator salaries are competitive with surrounding districts, she said.
“As with all of our employee groups, the district’s goal is to remain competitive to attract and retain quality employees,” Smith said. “Administrators provide critical guidance and support to our district and it is important that we have quality leaders in those roles. We are competitive with our neighboring districts and review salaries for all our employee groups to ensure we are keeping pace.”
