A 44-year-old security guard was shot and killed Monday morning near the University of Illinois Chicago campus.
Officers responded to a report of a person shot and found the guard lying outside on the 1400 block of South Morgan Street at around 4:09 a.m. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the shooter was traveling in a dark-colored sedan, police said. No arrests have been made.
Benford Protection Group said that the guard was an employee and was assigned to BJ Wright Court Apartments.
