Silver Cross Hospital patient being discharged is pushed from car during theft

New Lenox police are investigating an a car theft in which a patient being discharged Wednesday from Silver Cross Hospital was pushed out of their vehicle by someone who then drove off with it.

The patient was being discharged when an unarmed man took the vehicle, the hospital reported. The patient was treated at the hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries, according to Silver Cross.

Police responded shortly after 6 p.m. to the hospital, 1900 Silver Cross Blvd., and said it was a random act, the vehicle was located and a suspect identified. Police said their investigation will continue “until the offender is brought to justice” and that more information will be provided as the investigation develops.

The hospital said that Silver Cross security officers responded, secured the area and alerted New Lenox police.
